Phil Ahn's Moongate - Panorama City opened 1954 closed in 1990 |
The Moongate was a great Chinese restaurant serving the best Cantonese menu in Los Angeles. It was located on Van Nuys Blvd. in Panorama City. The main dining room sat about 100 people. The interior decoration was excellent. There was a waterfall in the upper section of the main dining room and one behind the bar. The side dinning room sat about 60 people. There was a small banquet room seating 75 and a huge banquet room that could easily hold 250 people. The bar was known for exotic tropical drinks that most other places at that time didn't even know how to make let alone serve. Many people had their birthdays, weddings, Holiday parties, meetings and large gatherings at the Moongate. People came to see Philip Ahn and see if they could get an autographed picture of him. Many did. The Moongate was a unique piece of San Fernando Valley of history.
